Residential - New Build / Barn Conversion

“Due to the exposed location of our new home we required insulation that would provide more than just U-value, we needed air tightness. We have achieved this with the use of spray foam.”

Project: We were engaged by the client to install the Spray Foam Insulation into their new home in Portavogie, County Down.  The insulation was to the roof of the story-and-a-half barn and all internal stud walls.

The location of the site was very exposed as it was situated overlooking Strangford Lough. The breathtaking scenery is accompanied with a biting wind and therefore ensuring their home would be air-sealed and not loose heat in all weather conditions brought them to choose spray foam as their insulation solution.

The internal stud wall partitions were filled with spray foam to provide sound absorption and noise reduction throughout their home.

With the pitched roof being insulated with spray foam between the rafters, this enables the roof-space to become a guaranteed warm livable space instead of only for storage.

Installation by Thermloc only took one day which resulted in the clients build programme being reduced – directly resulting in cost savings and an earlier move in date.
